Turning lemons into lemonade

This week has found me in a strange funk, and while I’ve been trying my best to wrap my head around my feelings and pushing hard to get myself out of this mini depression, I told myself the best way to recover is through creativity. Last night I determined that today I would make lemonade out of my lemons, and that I was going to create something new, unique, and fresh, and BAM! like that, my phone rings. I got a phone call from a close friend inviting me to be a part of a really unique group show at the Muckenthaler Museum in Fullerton this July. I’m super excited as this is THE perfect outlet for my much needed creative reboot! I have a few ideas of what I want to do, and I’ll keep you posted on the piece I’m going to work on for the show!

More than thirty years after his death, iconic American artist Norman Rockwell’s art is still enormously popular. This invitational group exhibition examines the enduring themes represented in the art of Norman Rockwell–patriotism, family and the American ideal–through the works of 40 contemporary artists and illustrators.

We are excited to partner with the Muckenthaler Cultural Center to bring this fresh, alternative take on Rockwell’s iconic themes. Visit www.themuck.org for more information regarding this exhibition.

The opening reception will feature two barbershop quartets, The Gaslight Revue and WYSIWYG, performing classic songs from the Great American Songbook.
