Last month I posted about the cover work I did for Black Hill Press’s anthology “The Cost of Paper Vol II.” One of the best things about this project, was that along with the cover design, I was able to submit an original artwork as well. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.59.54 PM

Before even having the opportunity to submit this piece, I had been contemplating wanting to do something this year on the topic of my adoption, which is obviously very close to my heart. I decided to do an interpretive piece showcasing my hand holding a lily in honor of White Lily Orphanage where I stayed as a child. The hand holds the flower delicately while staying bound back to the Korean knot, its roots. WIP1 WIP2This is a mixed media digital artwork. I did the linework in illustrator and then brought it into photoshop to finalize the textures and painting. After adding a few other details, I was really satisfied with the end result.Tangled Claim FinalI feel very fortunate to have been included in this project, and to be able to share something that is really important to me. Thank you to 1888.center for featuring my work and sharing it with your readers. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.51.01 PM
