What the Sketch?

Every year I try to keep my drawing skills alive by sketching when I can. However for the past few months, its been somewhat of a struggle. I’ve felt really uninspired, and even though in my head I still know how to draw, actually doing it has been hard.Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.55.44 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.58.25 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.58.11 PM

In order to break the cycle, I bought a few inspirational sketch books with suggestions an ideas and they’ve been really helpful. I’ve also been messing around with some coloring books for kids, because sometimes starting from basics can give you that extra boost.

Lastly, I’ve been messing around with different mediums. I used to always draw in graphite and occasionally http://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/weight-loss/ pen/ink. Then, I transitioned to acrylic for several years, and now I’m coming back to pen and some watercolor. I think its been good to stretch myself to use mediums I’m not as proficient at. That way if its not amazing, its ok, because its not your go to style anyways. Sometimes just thinking outside the box can inspire you to do something you didn’t know you had in you. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 2.12.44 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 2.01.33 PMScreen Shot 2015-12-23 at 2.11.04 PM

As the year starts rounding out, I’ve had highs and lows in my creative process. I will say though that I’ve found a lot more inspiration, and hope to do even more creative pieces in the next year. IMG_9636
