One of the coolest things about being an artist is when you run into other creatives, people who create art similiar to your own, or completely different. There is a wide world of art out there, and talent truly running amuck. Among these is my great friends Scott Lanier. Although his roots are in digital imagery, textures and 3d modeling, he also has been developing his drawing skills by using pictures and friends as his models. Being the narcissist I am, I begged him to do one for me too!
He selected this image as the one he wanted to use for the sketch. From here out he did a series of sketches and comps and then began uploading his process pictures. He slowly developed an outline and then filled in the layers slowly.
It always fascinates me to see an artists process, where they start, and how it leads to the end result. I think he did a really amazing job and I’m completely honored to have been selected as one of his test subjects!
The end result is truly beautiful and something I’ll always treasure. I have forever been immortalized, and in the words of my favorite latin saying “Ars longa, vita brevis” which envelops the concept of one’s art being eternal long after life is over.
