Pet Painter

For Christmas I decided to surprise my brother with a portrait of his two dachshunds, with some small personal details included in the piece. I posted the finished portrait on instagram (@pandikah) and got a lot of positive responses, including some requests for commissions. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 2.13.30 PM

Another friend of ours has two dogs whom she deeply loves. One of which is very very sick, the other, just very old. She wanted to get portraits done for Roxy the Bear and Stylez the Puppy. She sent me some photos and some notes on their personalities. I was so happy to be able to do these for her as shortly after, Stylez passed away. Both pieces were done in acrylic on canvas. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 2.12.19 PM

Roxy the Bear

Another friend, with a kitschy sense of humor then some of her cats, who were described in great deal as having unique personalities. One of which was eating ice cream and playing in boxes. I did a more caricatured version for her, with a few personal “easter eggs”.

I do have to say, I’m a not a master animal portrait artist, but it was indeed a unique challenge to take on. I don’t paint that often, but it is a good medium to use for animal fur and whatnot. Needless to say though, the greatest reward was making these pet owners happy.

Say What?
