One of my favorite things in the whole world is this vast thing we call the world wide web. I often find myself jumping from page to page, link to link, clicking on this and that, learning and exploring. Today I stumbled upon a designer’s site DesignLoveFest after seeing a website they had designed. on the front page was a feature on the artist arian behzadi.
I really love the artist’s “painterly” style infused with photography. It really gives life to otherwise somewhat still images. Its a retro sort of take in a very modern fashion. The bottom image instantly made me think album cover. Which made me think of the band Pocket Panda that I’ve been working with. I decided to try this technique. Although a little more modernized, this was my end result:
I was really happy with the end result. I thought it was fun to try adding a mix of seemingly traditional and digital effects together. Along with trying to align all the reference images in this photo comp.
The one other time I tried something like this was for a catalogue cover for the company I work at. I thought it was really fun, although it has yet to go to print >_<. I really love this technique however, and I hope to be able to do more projects like this in the future.
