Packaging Design: Joie De Vivre Macaron

One of my favorite things is when I get a request from a return client, so when I was contacted for this packaging project, I was very excited. You can read my earlier post here when I originally received a logo request from Joie De Vivre Macaron. Now that she had her company up and running, it was time to do the packaging for her products. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 1.47.40 PM

This was such a fun project because it was a series of boxes, all containing a similar item, but with unique elements based on their flavor. Once she sent me the template, I started to design according to the milk box shape. The requirement was that each flavor’s box should showcase the ingredients, the makers story, nutritional info, and the instructions with tiny accompanying illustrations. As a designer and illustrator, I especially love when I’m able to combine an illustrative element within a design project. Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 6.07.33 PM Screen Shot 2015-12-23 at 6.08.45 PM

After several different versions and going back and forth on whether or not we should use a photo on the front, in the end we decided on using illustrated macarons to match the overall look of the packaging. Along with that, the background pattern of each flavor had a tiny illustration to showcase the flavor. Vanilla: vanilla beans, Cocoa Pepp: peppermint leaf, Plain: macaroons, Soleil: lemons.

I’m very happy with how the end product turned out and think these look really great as a series. The client was also happy, which is always my main goal! I also think they would make a great gift, or if you’re up for the challenge, something delicious to make at home!

Say What?
