July in Little Tokyo

Its always nice when I get off work early on a sat and get to actually go do stuff. Sorta planned out and sort of on a whim, my bf decided to take me to Chin Ma Ya, one of my favorite ramen places in Little Tokyo, where we were able to walk around and enjoy the cool summer day.

We walked around all day looking at interesting Asian wares, eating delicious cuisine and participating in the local culture. We were lucky to be there on a weekend when there were a couple small “festival” type events going on.
We got to participate in the Tanabata festival, people generally celebrate this day by writing wishes, sometimes in the form of poetry, on tanzaku, small pieces of paper, and hanging them on bamboo, sometimes with other decorations.
Next, we crashed a wedding reception on the roof of the Miyako Hotel in the Japanese Garden that was absolutely beautiful!
The view from the top of the building was perfect, and gave us a good spot to test out Matt’s brand new Canon Powershot g12, which takes AMAZING outdoor fotos!
I’m personally not that big of a fan of the city of Los Angeles with its smog and dirt, but all in all there are some secret spots that are worth capturing, sometimes you just have to look for them!

Say What?
