I’ve worked with the non-profit ISM:A Community Project for several years now, both curating and exhibiting works. I’m especially excited about this show, as I’ve been involved in a couple different ways. I was to help ISM re-brand their identity with the relaunch of their site, by designing their logo and 10 year logo. The
This saturday a few of us ventured out to Long Beach for their annual SoundWalk, which coincided with the opening for the Robots and Angels Show at Alley 425. It was a truly interesting experience. There were noises and sights on every block. From my show, to the other more interactive installations, my friends were both
“The ‘Great 948; event celebrates Orange County’s 948 square miles through creative expression. The ‘Great 948‘ exhibition collection began earlier this month, with the Park reaching out to the entire Orange County community to collect 6×6 works of art on Masonite tiles provided by the Park. I’ve been doing freelance for the Art of Dance and Ballet Academy in Placentia, CA for a little over a year. I get a lot of random requests from them, but some are pretty fun! I have designed all their flyers, ads, programs etc, and my longest ongoing project has been to design all their
One of my favorite things in the whole world is this vast thing we call the world wide web. I often find myself jumping from page to page, link to link, clicking on this and that, learning and exploring. Today I stumbled upon a designer’s site DesignLoveFest after seeing a website they had designed. on
I am one of those rare people who really doesn’t enjoy most traditional celebratory events. I try not to attend baby showers, family parties, infant baptisms, or weddings…. as much as possible. However, if you find me in attendance its because I truly am there to support you, and let you know how happy I
Last night we rolled out to the Muckethaler Cultural Museum to check out the opening for American Nostalgia. It had a strong turnout, with a full parking lot and wide variety of people in attendance. There was one main gallery room, one smaller room to the side and 2 more small galleries on either end.
So after procrastinating for some time I finally finished my piece for the show American Nostalgia that opened last night at the Muckenthaler Museum in Fullerton. The hardest part was coming up with my idea. But after much deliberation came up with a simple concept that I could execute in a short period of time.
Finally finished my piece for the upcoming American Nostalgia show. Prior to the event there was a soiree hosted for the artists, where we were briefly asked about our feelings on Norman Rockwell. I hate watching myself on camera, but I guess I am out there on youtube for all to see! So too bad
This week has found me in a strange funk, and while I’ve been trying my best to wrap my head around my feelings and pushing hard to get myself out of this mini depression, I told myself the best way to recover is through creativity. Last night I determined that today I would make lemonade
Along with the celebration for the lunar new year, comes my desire to design new things. Look out for new innovative designs this year and start by checking out my series of typographical photos. CLICK HERE
(fan art by Enkayeff) My husband laughs at me for being so invested in some of the games I play on my ipad, but its actually his fault, since he bought it for me in the first place. Every once in awhile I find a game, one of those build a village, aquarium, or zoo,
This last week I’ve had a couple encounters into other artist’s works where I couldn’t help but notice the striking resemblances. The age old saying that there is nothing new is in a way true, but also untrue in that things are constantly being reinterpreted or altered. The illustration was a hair study done with
Font: Munchhausen This weekend Matt and I journeyed down to China Town in Los Angeles to ring in the new year at the local temple. We journeyed around the area to shoot photos and take in all the festivities. After searching through my photos I found a good amount of ones I really liked, and
This weekend I had the pleasure of going to a colleague//friend’s exhibit at the Japanese American Museum in (Little Tokyo), Los Angeles. The show is titled “Supernatural” and its description states: “Traditions are an integral part of every community. Some of these come from superstitions that our ancestors carried with them…Supernatural features the work of
For my bridal shower I wanted to create these super cute tea bag cookies, which I had seen online, as a party favor for my guests. I saw these cookies a few different times, and thought about how amazing they would be. The cookies are listed to be made with shortbread dipped in chocolate. (Photo
One of the hardest things for me planning my upcoming wedding reception was figuring out how to design the whole thing. There’s so many beautiful pre-printed designs available these days that itd be easy to head to Michael’s and just buy a box set, add some names and send them out. However, being a designer,
Its always a struggle to figure out what to do for the new years. While its fun to go out, its expensive, and crowded, and takes a lot of time and energy, but staying home just doesn’t seem to do justice for the new year. This year, we found the perfect medium, when we were
I was really excited when I received an invitation from an old roommate letting me know she was getting married… in Hawaii! I think a lot of people have “destination” weddings knowing not many people will come, but there was no way I was gonna miss this. Of course, the wedding was the main reason
I had the great fortune of being asked to do some freelance work for the Great Park in Irvine, CA. I posted before about the seasonal pins I had done for them, and that project actually came after this one. However, I’ve been lazy and haven’t exactly been posting things on time (sorry!) Back in
One of the best things about dating another designer is getting to bounce ideas off one another. Often times I’ll send Matt ideas for things I’m working on, and he’ll send me projects he’s working on and we’ll get one another’s take on things. Recently Matt has been doing some extra freelance work for his
