Alley 425 Presents: Robots & Angels Sept 29-Oct 15 2011

I’m really excited about participating in this upcoming show. I was invited by a lovely LA/LBC curator to be a part of this group exhibition located in downtown Long Beach. The theme of the show is Robots & Angels “A Collaboration of Live Art: Mind, Body, & Sound”. This will be the premier exhibit in this space until it gets re-purposed later this year into a restaurant. I went down there last week to drop off my piece and the space is really great, I hope the owner has a lot of success.

My piece is titled: “If We All Cared” and its about doing our part for the earth. Based off the quote:

“On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it.”
  Jules Renard.
For my piece I decided to do it based on angels, and of course there is nothing more angelic than pandas.

I began by doing digital renderings of some ideas I had, but decided that they weren’t exactly in the direction I wanted to go.

After I simplified my ideas, I went out and bought a huge canvas and got to work! I’m extremely happy with the results, and hope that you will come out to view it. Of course, post opening I will upload process pics and the finished item. Until then…. here are some teaser shots of some of the details.

So anyways if you get a chance, the show will be up OPENING weekend SEPT 29th – OCT 1ST 2011 & RUNS IN CONJUNCTION WITH LONG BEACH SOUNDWALK ART FESTIVAL 2011. I would love to see you there!
“We have art works of 20 artists installed at Alley 425 & would like you to come out for our opening reception to enjoy a glass of wine & take in the experience of Long Beach SoundWalk 2011.”
